Intertextuality in Andrea Levy's novel “Small Island”

The purpose of this article was to identify how intertextuality in the novel “Small Island” (2004) by British writer Andrea Levy (1956–2019) contributes representation postcolonial issues. To solve research problems, we applied cultural-historical, comparative, biographical methods literary analysis. considers appeal poem “Daffodils” William Wordsworth allows contemporary criticise anglicised system and content education colonies, which becomes conductor dominant, Western discourse. reference “Gone with Wind” helps demonstrate stereotyping images blacks cultural texts is pointedly acutely perceived her dark-skinned heroine. An “The Charge Light Brigade” Lord Tennyson and, through it, Rudyard Kipling's Last Brigade”, speech Winston Churchill, serves recall undeservedly, according Levy, forgotten contribution indigenous inhabitants colonies protection territory World War II post-war reconstruction country.
